Richard Strauss' "Salome" is a virtuoso work in every aspect, from the Orchestra to the Singers, and it requires incredible stamina and impeccable technique. The music is absolutely glorious, and in some parts, almost orgasmic (if I may be so bold). This glorious recording of this glorious work is, in my opinion, the definitive Salome.
